Abstract: Road traffic accidents remain a significant public health issue worldwide, particularly in developing regions like India. Madhya Pradesh, one of India's largest states, has seen a consistent rise in the number of road accidents over the past decade, especially on highways. This review paper consolidates the findings from a comprehensive study on road safety in Madhya Pradesh, focusing on accident trends, contributing factors, black-spot identification, and accident prediction models. The analysis is based on primary and secondary data collected over a period from 2016 to 2023. The results reveal over-speeding, poor road conditions, and driver-related factors as key contributors to accidents. This review paper also highlights the importance of road safety awareness and enforcement and provides recommendations for targeted interventions to reduce accident rates.
