Abstract

Introduction: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease that predominantly affects women. The impact of employment status on the quality of life (QoL) of women with RA remains an important yet understudied area. This study aimed to compare the QoL in working and nonworking women with RA, focusing on the influence of employment status on their physical and psychosocial well-being. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved a sample of women diagnosed with RA. Participants were divided into two groups: working women (employed either full-time or part-time) and nonworking women (unemployed or on long-term disability leave). QoL was assessed using validated questionnaires, including the Short Form-36 Health Survey (SF-36) and the Rheumatoid Arthritis Quality of Life Questionnaire (RAQoL). Data were analyzed using appropriate statistical methods, including t-tests and chi-square tests.
