Abstract

Background: Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques (MIST) have become increasingly prevalent in gynecological procedures, promising advantages such as reduced recovery times, shorter hospital stays, and minimized scarring. As the adoption of these techniques rises, it is crucial to systematically evaluate their impact on patient outcomes to inform clinical practice and enhance healthcare quality. Aim: This comprehensive review and meta-analysis aim to measure the overall effect of Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques on patient outcomes in gynecological procedures. By synthesizing existing evidence, we seek to identify trends, disparities, and potential areas for improvement in MIST applications, ultimately contributing to evidence-based decision-making in gynecological surgery. Methods: A systematic literature review was led to recognize related researches published in peer-reviewed journals. Eligible studies were subjected to rigorous inclusion criteria, focusing on gynecological procedures performed using Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques. A meta-analysis was employed to quantitatively synthesize the findings from selected studies, allowing for a comprehensive examination of key outcome measures, including surgical complications, recovery times, and patient satisfaction. Results: The meta-analysis revealed a diverse range of outcomes associated with Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques in gynecological procedures. Substantial evidence suggests a significant reduction in postoperative complications, shorter hospital stays, and improved patient satisfaction associated to traditional surgical approaches. Though, certain variations and nuances were observed across different types of gynecological surgeries, necessitating a nuanced interpretation of the results. Conclusion: Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques demonstrate a positive overall impact on patient outcomes in gynecological procedures. The evidence supports the widespread adoption of these techniques, emphasizing their potential to enhance surgical outcomes and patient experiences. However, the variations observed across specific procedures highlight the importance of tailored approaches and ongoing research to optimize the application of Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques in gynecology.
