Abstract

Background: Pancratium Longiflorum is a rare herb used medicinally, mostly found growing wild. Leaves are narrow, about half an inch wide, long, arising from the base. The flowering stem is exceptionally short, about 3 cm, bearing only a single flower. The flower-tube is exceptionally long, 5-6 inch. The limb is about 3 inch long. Flowers are large for a Pancratium, about 4-5 inches across. Objective: Present research was done for authentication and identification by detail studies of various pharmacognostic parameters of Pancratium Longiflorum leaves. Material and Methods: Intensive qualitative microscopic, phytochemical analysis, macroscopic characteristics followed by TLC finger prints of different extractives studies were performed of Pancratium Longiflorum leaves by using various reagents and chemicals
