Abstract

This study examines the impact of professional development initiatives on the retention rates of IT employees in Hyderabad, Telangana state, during recessionary periods. With the IT industry being a major contributor to the local economy, understanding the role of professional development in retaining IT talent becomes crucial, especially when faced with economic challenges. The study investigates how skill enhancement, career progression opportunities, employee engagement and motivation, adaptability to change, and the cultivation of a learning culture influence employee retention in the IT sector. By exploring these factors specific to the context of Hyderabad, Telangana, this research aims to provide insights and recommendations to organizations seeking to enhance their retention strategies for IT employees in recessionary times.
