Aims and Objectives: To evaluate the response of the lips and to determine if there are any differences in the response following first premolar extractions and subsequent incisor retraction in vertical, average, and horizontal growth patterns. Materials and Methods: The soft tissue changes after the extraction of maxillary and mandibular first premolars and anterior retraction were evaluated for 60 Class I malocclusion patients. The sample was divided into three groups namely patients with vertical average and horizontal growth patterns. They were digitized and analyzed for changes in the integumental profile with treatment following premolar extraction.
