Olmesartan medoxomil (OLM) is a prodrug of Olmesartan, a selective AT1 subtype angiotensin-II receptor antagonist used widely for the treatment of hypertension. Although OLM has excellent performance against the treatment of hypertension, but its low bioavailability (BA), approximately 26% in humans, due to its low water solubility and efflux by drug resistance pumps in the gastrointestinal tract limits its use in pharmaceutical industry.
