Abstract

Transdermal patches have been one of the effective tools in the delivery of active pharmaceutical ingredients parenterally with greater patient compliance and ease of use with minimum side effects. In the present research matrix type transdermal patches containing Glibenclamide were prepared using different ratios of hydrophilic polymer HPMC and hydrophobic polymer ethyl celluloseby solvent evaporation technique for its sustained release effect and increased bioavailability as compared to oral dosage form. The mixture of methanol and chloroform was used as a solvent and 30%w/w polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG 400) was used as a plasticizer with Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as a permeation and solubility enhancer
