Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a sleep disorder characterized by repetitive episodes of upper airway occlusion. Obesity is one of the major risk factor for the development of OSA. This is a serious problem because undiagnosed and untreated OSA is associated with increased cardiovascular and cerebrovascular mortality and morbidity.
