This review paper provides a comprehensive summary of the pharmacological investigations conducted on selected medicinal plants of Uttarakhand Kumaun region for their hepatoprotective and antiulcer potential. A search of relevant studies published between 2010 and 2022 was conducted, and a total of 22 studies were included in the review. The findings suggest that the selected medicinal plants exhibit promising hepatoprotective and antiulcer activity, as evidenced by the significant improvements in various biochemical markers of liver function and ulcer severity in animal models. The potential of these plants as a source of new drugs for the treatment of liver diseases is highlighted. However, the need for further research to establish their safety and efficacy in humans is emphasized. Overall, this review emphasizes the importance of scientific validation of traditional medicinal knowledge in the search for new drugs to treat liver diseases.
