METHOD DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF GLIBENCLAMIDE BY UV-SPECTROSCOPY

Abstract

This research is based on utilization of Electromagnetic radiation of Ultraviolet region (200-400nm). The study shows an easy and cheap UV-spectroscopic method for the quantitative determination of Glibenclamide tablet dosage form as well as Glibenclamide API. Glibenclamide shows the maximum absorbance at 300 nm in absorption maxima method. Drug followed the linearity in the range of 10-140 μg/ml for this method with correlation coefficient (R2) of 0.999. Further the method developed was validated including precision, accuracy, specificity, assay parameters as per the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines. This method is simple, cost effective and so efficient that can be suitable for regular testing of the pharmaceuticals.
