Abstract

Physical fitness is a crucial indicator of health in children and adolescents and can determine the health status in the later phases of an individual’s life.Physical fitness has a multidimensional structure and can be assessed through its various health related components:body composition, cardio respiratory fitness, musculoskeletal fitness, motor fitness and flexibility. 1 Physical activity is defined as ‘any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that results in energy expenditure’ , while sedentary behaviour refers to any waking behaviour characterised by reduced physical movement and low energy expenditure in a sitting posture
