Abstract

Pharmacists play a crucial role in the field of dentistry by providing medication-related services to patients, collaborating with dentists and other healthcare providers, and promoting oral health education. They are responsible for dispensing and reviewing medication orders, monitoring drug interactions and adverse effects, and ensuring appropriate dosing and administration. Pharmacists can also provide patient counseling on medication use, including instructions on proper oral hygiene and pain management after dental procedures. In addition, pharmacists can work with dentists to develop treatment plans including judicial use of antibiotics that consider the patient's medical history, medication regimen, and dental health status. They can also provide education on the appropriate use of over-the-counter dental products such as mouthwashes and toothpastes. Overall, the role of pharmacists in dentistry is essential to promote safe and effective medication use and improve patient outcomes.
