The impact of diabetes on oral health is often overlooked, but it is essential for diabetic individuals to understand the increased risk of oral complications and the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene. Proper management of diabetes, along with regular dental check-ups and professional cleanings, can help prevent or minimize the oral health issues associated with diabetes. Patients with diabetes and other health professionals do not have enough knowledge about oral health, despite a large body of research supporting the link between dental health and type 2 diabetes.
