Abstract

Background: This study aimed to compare the ultrasound guided ESPB to RSB block in the duration of postoperative analgesia, pain scores and side effects after lower midline abdominal surgery. Methods: Adult patients undergoing lower midline abdominal surgeries under general anesthesia were randomized to receive either ultrasound guided bilateral ESPB (ESBP group n= 27) or RSB (RSB group n= 30) before induction of anesthesia. The primary outcome was the time to first request of analgesia, Other outcomes included: total morphine consumption, VAS, perioperative hemodynamics and incidence of complications related to the block
