This article deals with the problem of teaching and learning foreign languages, namely Italian, with the help of phraseological units. According the author, collocations, unlike phraseological units that are characterized by having idiomatic meaning, are not difficult to learn and understan, since its meaning is often compositional. However, the greatest difficulty is its acquisition and storage in long-term memory and production, as well as its use as regards part of the active vocabulary.
