Time Management Skills And Academic Stress Among Nursing students At the College of Nursing, ABHA, King Khalid University

Abstract

Good time management behaviours such as establishing objectives and priorities as well as monitoring the use of time can facilitate productivity, greater academic achievement and minimise depression, anxiety and stress in students. The aim of this study was to assess the relation between time management skills and stress level among nursing students. Methods: The study was conducted at the College of Nursing, ABHA, King Khalid University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, using a descriptive design. A convenience sample from 2nd year nursing students (n=60). Two tools were used for data collection: time management questionnaire and academic stress scale. Results: The study findings indicate that the highest percentage of nursing students had moderate level of time management skills (61.7%),and slightly more than half of nursing students had moderate level of stress (53.3%). Conclusion and recommendation: The results of this study add to the body of knowledge regarding students’ stress and time management. There was a statistically significant negative correlation between time management skills and stress level among nursing students. Therefore, a time management preparation program and stress management training programs should be provided for nursing students during the orientation period
