Homozygous beta-thalassemia individuals are diagnosed during early years of life due to severity of clinical symptoms, but heterozygous beta-thalassemia cases being asymptomatic remains undetectable and increases the risk of beta-thalassemia major or double heterozygous hemoglobinopathy offspring if married to beta-thalassemia or any other hemoglobinopathy individual.
